2013 winner and losers in Tech
Think for a moment, who do you think were the biggest winners in the tech world in 2013? Twitter with its IPO, Google with its yet-to-launch Google Glass, PlayStation and Xbox were some of the top winners this year. So did Apple to a lesser extent than previous years with its 2 new iPhone models and the iPad Air.
What about the losers? Not everyone achieved the desired results as some fell exceptionally short. MySpace with its redesign, Samsung with its smartwatch, BlackBerry and LivingSocial were some companies who didn’t enjoy much success.

Facebook introduces more links and “related articles”
Facebook, in their attempt to make the social media platform the hub for news sharing and discussions, has made some minor tweaks where users are shown more links to articles, showcasing a related article section when you click on the links and making old links which your friends comment to be visible at the top of your newsfeed.
Facebook continues to lag behind in the referral traffic to websites behind other social media sites such as Twitter and Google+ despite a 170% growth this year, outpacing its user growth.

Unfollow and not Defriend on Facebook
Facebook unfollow is another one of their minor but useful changes they have made to customise the newsfeed which shows news only of people that you are genuinely interested in.
The ‘Unfollow’ option allows you to do the same functions as the ‘Hide All’ option used to do, making it a new phrase to be aware of. The main idea behind this is to restrain users going as far as defriending friends whose content one doesn’t want to see.
