The IFA 2013 was the launch pad for some awesome devices!
Samsung unveiled
- Galaxy Gear smartwatch – notifications, control music playback, range of watch faces, 1.9-megapixel camera, a speaker and two microphones
- Galaxy Note 3 –5.7 inches Super AMOLED display, 3GB of RAM and a 2.3GHz quad-core processor and a 13 megapixel camera
- Note 10.1 tablet – 10.1-inch, 2560 x 1600 display and syncs with the Gear smartwatch
Sony announced
- Smartwatch 2 – fancy material and design but no major update
- Xperia Z1 – 5-inch display, waterproof and 20.7-megapixel camera
- QX smart lenses – attached to your smartphone and has a zoom lens, image sensor and processing chips, a battery, stereo microphones, and even their own memory card slots

Pioneer launches sat-nav with augmented reality
Pioneer’ NavGate is a sat-nav with a built-in projector that’ll overlay a 30-inch display over the road ahead. Using the unit, you can see turn-by-turn directions, the current speed limit, distance, a clock and the estimated time of arrival. It also pairs with various smartphone platforms too and is set to be available in Europe by October.

Google kills off Donut and Éclair
Donut and Éclair accounted for just 1.3% of Android devices last month, and Google has done away with them in Android’s platform distribution numbers. Jelly Bean is the most popular with 45.1%. Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich follow with 30.7% and 21.7% respectively.

Electric bike with 75 mile range and 40mph top speed
Rimac’s G12 electric bike is both, a motorbike and regular bicycle. It can do 40mph (unassisted) with a pedal-free range of 75 miles! With an alleged charge time of 80 minutes (from zero), from any regular power outlet, this could be a winner in the city.
